Knowing when to say yes to work
One of the hardest aspects of being a freelancer
The hardest part of being a freelancer, for me, is knowing when to say yes to work, and when to say no. The market for design is tough at the moment. I know many freelancers who are struggling. In March I had three projects come to an end at a similar time. This was work I loved. After three years running my own business, I finally felt like I’d hit my stride. Then nothing.
This is scary, especially when all your tried and tested methods for securing work fail. Since March I have declined one project as it didn’t feel right and then another fell through. This left me with one remaining option on the table and it was something that I knew would pose a dilemma for me.
